Why Tie-Downs Matter for Mobile Homes in Florida
Florida is no stranger to severe weather, including hurricanes and strong storms. That’s why mobile homes must be properly anchored to prevent shifting, tilting, or complete loss of the structure in high winds. Tie-downs keep your home secure by anchoring it to the ground, and failure to meet tie-down requirements can result in insurance denial, mortgage issues, and serious safety hazards.
At Anwell Mobile Homes, we ensure your mobile home’s anchor system complies with Florida law and provides peace of mind no matter the season.
FREE Mobile Home Tie-Down & Anchoring Inspections
Not sure if your mobile home is properly anchored? We offer completely free inspections to assess the condition and effectiveness of your tie-down system. During the inspection, we will:
Check for rusted, loose, or missing anchors
Evaluate spacing, strap tension, and attachment points
Confirm compliance with Florida Administrative Code Rule Chapter 15C-1
Provide a full report with recommendations, if needed
If your tie-downs are outdated, missing, or insufficient, we can repair or upgrade your system on the spot or schedule a follow-up to complete the work promptly.
Tie-Down Upgrades for Loan or Insurance Approval
Are you applying for a mobile home loan or insurance policy? Most lenders and insurers require proof that your home meets current anchoring standards. This is especially important for older or pre-owned mobile homes, where tie-down systems may no longer be up to code.
Anwell Mobile Homes will:
Inspect your tie-down and anchoring system
Bring your home up to the latest state specifications
Provide documentation for your lender or insurance provider
Install or replace tie-downs as needed to meet code
We understand the requirements, we know the process, and we’ll help you get compliant quickly so your financing or insurance isn’t delayed.
What Are the Florida Tie-Down Requirements?
In Florida, all mobile homes must be anchored according to the specifications provided by the manufacturer. However, if those instructions are unavailable—common with used homes—the state requires that anchoring follow Rule Chapter 15C-1 of the Florida Administrative Code.
This rule covers:
Minimum number of anchors per length of the home
Placement of anchors at critical points, such as corners and entryways
Proper use of over-the-top and frame tie-downs
Compliance with wind load and soil condition requirements
At Anwell, we are fully versed in the latest Florida anchoring laws and use only approved materials and techniques to ensure your home is safely and legally secured.
